Ginger grew up in Whiteville, NC and graduated from East Carolina University (Go Pirates!). She learned to cook by spending time in the kitchen with her parents, grandparents, and family members--all amazing southern cooks who rarely used recipes. She worked as a physical therapist in the geriatric setting for over 20 years. After working as a traveling therapist, she missed her home state and moved to Huntersville NC in 1998. Ginger is married to Rob and they have 3 daughters: Keely (16), Alaina (13), and Sadie (11)--all budding chefs who need to learn how to clean the kitchen! She enjoys reading, church activities, spending time with family, and watching her daughters dance and play volleyball. Favorite ingredient to use: Fresh herbs. Favorite savory recipe: Shrimp and Grits with Roasted Okra and Tomatoes. Favorite dessert: Crème Brulee. Best "food" childhood memory: Grandma's Butter Beans. Favorite TV chef: Katie Lee. Best advice for new cooks: Experiment!! The recipe is just a guide.
